San Pedro based artist Carol Es exhibits a new series of oil paintings at Highways in Santa Monica. A Former garment industry worker, Carol reclaims a method of pattern-making and lost hope through haunting layered paintings and hand-stitched canvases. She uses textile patterns and obscured sgraffito to purge memories of the past in hopes to absolve the effects of child sexual abuse, inner dialogue, and deeply ingrained psychological pain; thus this exhibit is about breaking habits and cutting self-defeating patterns. Highways Performance Space and Gallery
Highways is located within the 18th Street Arts Complex in Santa Monica. Street parking and lot parking are available.
Directions From the east:
Exit the Santa Monica (10) Freeway at Cloverfield and go NORTH (right) 2 blocks to Olympic. Turn left on Olympic and go (WEST) 7 blocks to 18th Street.
Turn right (NORTH) on 18th Street.
